Mist's Tarot Collection

The Classic Rider Waite Smith Tarot

The one every other deck is a conversation with, whether it knows it or not.

I didn’t start here, and I think that surprises people. But I came back to it, the way you come back to a word once you’ve learned enough of the language around it to actually hear what it’s saying.

Pamela Colman Smith drew every card with a full scene, not just the suits — that was the innovation, in 1909, and it’s the reason a beginner can read this deck at all without memorising a hundred abstract meanings first. The Ten of Swords just shows you the wound. You don’t need anyone to explain it. Every deck on this shelf owes it something, and most of them know it.

Who this is for

Anyone starting out, and anyone who wants the deck our own card-meaning guidebook is actually written against — the imagery every later deck borrows, argues with, or reinvents.
