What works

  • + Top-fill 3-litre tank — pour water straight in, no tank to carry to the sink
  • + Up to 25 hours on low from one fill
  • + Rated under 28dB, with a 360° nozzle to aim mist at the plants
  • + Stops misting and lights a refill indicator when the tank runs dry

What doesn't

  • − Same 10–27m² room rating as the Classic 100 — the extra is tank and convenience, not coverage
  • − No hygrometer or target-humidity control — output level only
  • − Same mineral-dust issue on hard UK tap water as any ultrasonic unit

The full review

Overview

The Levoit Dual 150 sits alongside the Classic 100 in our humidifier round-up. Levoit rates both for rooms of 10–27m², so the choice between them isn’t about room size. The differences are the tank — 3 litres against the Classic 100’s 2.4 — and how you fill it: the Dual 150 fills from the top.

Top-Fill vs Bottom-Fill

This is the practical reason to choose the Dual 150. With the Classic 100, the tank comes off and goes to the tap. With the Dual 150, you take the lid off and pour water straight in, which also makes the tank easier to reach for cleaning. If you’re humidifying a plant shelf every day through a British winter, how easy the refill is decides whether the humidifier actually gets used.

Capacity and Run Time

The 3-litre tank gives up to 25 hours on the low setting, according to Levoit — an hour more than the Classic 100 from 0.6 litres more water. Run time on higher settings is shorter, and it depends on the room’s temperature and humidity.

Noise and Controls

Levoit rates the Dual 150 at under 28dB. Like any ultrasonic unit, it has no fan — just a faint hiss from the transducer — so it’s a realistic option for a bedroom. A control knob sets the mist output, and a 360° nozzle lets you point the mist at your plants rather than the wall. When the water runs out it stops misting and lights a refill indicator.

Essential Oils

Levoit says you can add a few drops of essential oil to the water tank to scent the room. This does nothing for the plants — don’t add oils expecting a horticultural benefit — but if you were going to run a diffuser in the same room anyway, it saves a device. Follow Levoit’s instructions on how much to use.

What It Doesn’t Do

Like the Classic 100, the Dual 150 has no hygrometer and can’t hold a target humidity — you set an output level and check a cheap hygrometer yourself to judge whether it’s enough. If you want a unit that holds a target automatically, that’s the job of Levoit’s smart LV600S, at roughly twice the price.

The Verdict

The Dual 150 is the Classic 100 made easier to live with: a bigger tank, a longer run on low, and a top-fill design you’ll actually keep using. It doesn’t cover a bigger room, so don’t buy it for that. If the Classic 100’s lift-off tank would put you off, this is the one; if you want automatic humidity targeting, look at a smart unit instead.

Correction, October 2026: an earlier version of this page said the Dual 150 shared the Classic 100’s tank, covered nearly twice the room size, and had a dedicated essential-oil chamber. None of those is right: the tanks differ (3L vs 2.4L), both are rated for 10–27m², and oils go into the water tank. See how we review.
